Hi I’m Armaan.
I have been at UKWS for just over three years and joined the company as a fresh graduate after completing my Bsc Hons degree in Quantity Surveying. Having come out of university I was keen on joining the right company who would be able to provide me with a solid foundation and a good level of support to help me progress in my career. UKWS have helped me grow and create a strong understanding of not only the roles and responsibilities of an Estimator but the construction industry as a whole.
My main responsibilities focus on pricing tenders which we receive from Main Contractors and liaising with our supply chain to secure materials for any upcoming projects. Over the past year I have had a strong involvement in co-ordinating our small works and maintenance division which has seen an all-time high in growth and secured contracts. UKWS have made sure that I have had the ability to view and oversee the complete construction process from pre-tender to post-construction regularly.
Regarding my progression, having come out university with a vague theoretical background I was keen to consolidate this with experience in the practical field. UKWS helped bridge the gap from university to employment by regularly providing training plans, 1 to 1 support and regular performance meetings. The idea of the transition from a student to a full time employee can be daunting but here at UKWS, in hindsight it was honestly a breeze. Over the past three years I have worked my way up from a Trainee Estimator to an Assistant Estimator with a vision of becoming an Estimator very soon! Having a company who supports the same vision and goals and are willing to help you achieve them is essential for any young individual looking to develop a successful career.
UKWS are a fantastic company to work for who really look out for their employees on both a professional and personal level and the approachability of any colleague whether it be at Director or Trainee level contributes to the family feel around the company.
I am excited for what 2024 brings for myself at UKWS, another year with big projects working for some of the biggest Main Contractors is what any young individual in the construction industry would be excited for!
